185 Glaucoma - Tips, consejos y experiencias - La facoemulsificación está indicada como procedimiento primario en un ojo con glaucoma crónico de ángulo cerrado con catarata, reduciendo la PIO con un menor número de complicaciones respecto a la cirugía filtrante. En todo paciente donde se planea realizar una cirugía glaucopreventiva se debe considerar: • El nivel de la PIO con o sin tratamiento, el número de fármacos utilizados y el compliance en el tratamiento. • El daño de la Capa de Fibras nerviosas retinales, de células ganglionares y el cambio en los parámetros del disco, así como el campo visual. • Presencia o no de sinequias periféricas anteriores y características del cierre angular. • Determinación del mecanismo facomórfico, por medio de la medida comparativa del vault del cristalino. • Refracción del paciente y la posibilidad de corregirlo por medio de un lente intraocular.
